sewing

i finally managed to sew this tote for my friend Joanna. I hope she likes the 'fake' Marimekko fabric. It's almost the last of the red flower fabric. Next up, trying to find the correct size baby trouser from a pattern sheet that frankly looks like a battleplan.

tweed

I love this look. She looks friendly. Dots , tweed, a little bit of red peeking out. Makes me think that the tweed skirt I have got and which I don't wear very often (but could not bear to part with) may look better chopped off a couple of inches. Found this on the Sartorialist

beach walk

we were in Norfolk last weekend to visit our friend Shane. We went for a lovely, brisk and very windy walk on Holkham beach. The sun was out, the cold breeze pinched our cheeks and definitely blew all the cobwebs out. After that we went to a pub where there was a roaring fire and meat pie, chicken, rabbit, beef etc, was on the menu. Perfect day in my book. I think Oliver had a pretty good day too, especially since it was his birthday! Happy Birthday love! And Alvar...lots of space to run around, water, some weird things to look at in the sand..what more would you want when you are only 19 months old.

snow

The heather and ornamental cabbage in the kitchen window box buried under snow.

Alvar at the kitchen table reading Pippi and being curious about the snow and the neighbours kids having a snowball fight in the garden.

A slightly creepy looking snowman...

snow in London. Not a light dusting that quickly melts away but lots and lots of snow falling through the night to welcome us into a winter wonderland in the morning. Not a single track in the road, cars buried, grey skies with promises of more to come. Makes me realise how much i miss proper winter with the spring that follows. Melting ice dripping from roof tops, snow drops peaking through the remnants of snow and spring birds twittering.
